Kiwillo is one of the more unique amaranth varieties we've seen. Isolated from the beautiful Andes Mountain region of Cusco, Peru, "Kiwillo" is a local landrace that is commonly used as a vegetable and grain crop. 6 to 8-foot-tall plants produce unique dusty-pink inflorescences with thick, truncated branches that resemble puff balls. A beautiful variety for creating unique arrangements but also useful as a food crop. Late-maturing plants require a at least 150 days to produce viable seeds. Each packet contains a minimum of 200 seeds. Seed for this variety was generously provided by the USDA National Genetic Resources Program (NGRP).
