 Àdduna means 'Earth and all life upon it' in Wolof, the main language in Senegal and our Àdduna necklace creates a unique world of texture hanging around your neck. Made entirely by hand, from natural and recycled materials, our partners in Senegal make each piece by pouring 100% recycled silver into a mould of hand-carved cuttlefish bone. As they make a new mould for every piece, each pendant has its own unique texture—like a fingerprint from the ocean. Even the back of your necklace has a different texture from the front! On one side, they file off some of the texture to be smooth, creating contrast between the deep wavy ridges of the ocean and the soft smooth silver of the sky. On the other side, they leave the cuttlefish texture in full so you can choose which side you want to wear, each day. *** Green Wave is a social enterprise that trains & employs women living in shelters in Dakar to support them to become financially independent. They provide three months of training for free, followed by the offer of a job in their workshop.
