The Imagineers responsible for the United Kingdom pavilion wanted you to feel like you could tour the country just by walking through the shops of High Street and Tudor Lane. If you pay close attention as you travel from one shop to the next, you’ll notice that you’re also moving through a range of English architectural styles—from the furnishings in the shop to the very designs of the ceilings, walls, and floors. The Toy Soldier was inspired by an older section of Hampton Court, Henry VIII’s favorite dwelling; and Cotswold cottage on High Street is meant to resemble the childhood cottage of Anne Hathaway at Stratford-upon-Avon. This scene is usually packed with people; but late at night, walking toward International Gateway to exit the park after a long dinner, sometimes you’ll find it like this. Not a soul left on the streets or in the shops. In those quiet moments, you really can let yourself think that you’re somewhere else entirely. * * * * * * * Canvas (various sizes) Canvas fram
