
Frontier Reflection
I took this photograph standing on the shores of Liberty Square, looking out over the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland. Only in Magic Kingdom could you stand in the late 18th century and cast your lens right across the middle of the 19th century and on to its end–much less also see the whole scene reflected across still water at sunset. Disney has an uncanny ability to weave different storylines like these together into a single cohesive landscape. The distant view of Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios that blends seamlessly into World Showcase’s Morocco Pavilion. The vast structure that houses Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind that blends seamlessly into the sky beyond it. But maybe here, more than anywhere else, we see it in its most literal (and subtle) sense. Scenes from different periods in time, from areas of the park with very different goals–to educate, to entertain, to excite–coming together as one. So I made a pic
