The Goddess Lilith has been described as a demon, in other sources she is an icon who became one of the darkest deities of the pagans. Lilith is one of the oldest known female spirits of the world. Her roots predate Babylon, and come from Ancient Mesopotamia, from the famous Epic of Gilgamesh of Sumerian legend, but she was also described in the Bible and the Talmud of Early Jewish text. Lilith is often envisioned as a screech owl, a night spirit, or a dangerous demon who steals babies in the darkness or seduces men and leads them astray. In Jewish folklore she is known as Adam's first wife, created not from his rib but also from the earth.
