Basic Operations - Parts of the Problem 3-Part Cards

It is just as important to become familiar with and apply mathematical nomenclature as it is to present that found within the cultural curriculum. As students begin working with word problems and translating algebraic sentences, they will be asked to draw on their knowledge of the parts of basic operations terminology. This 3-part card material includes: Addend Sum Minuend Subtrahend Difference Multiplicand Multiplier Partial Product Final Product Dividend Divisor Quotient The child will be asked to match the term, definition, and a visual model for each. To provide an additional visual guide, I have used the corresponding Montessori operational colors as backgrounds.  I recommend printing the 3-Part Cards and Controls on cardstock and laminating them for extended use.
