Mary Napier 1832 Sampler Pattern Paper Chart

What first drew me to the Mary Napier Sampler was the unusual signature. I had not seen lettering like that before. The beautiful composition, the stunning stone mansion and the simple statement “God is Love”, it is the perfect sampler in my opinion.This Scottish sampler shows some traditional colors and motifs with green and red being often dominent colors. Mary was born about 1823 in Govan, Lanarkshire Scotland. Her parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Napier. She had a little brother named John, 3 years younger, by profession a grocer. I found no profession for Mary.
