2018 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes Vieille Vigne (750ml)

96 points Decanter Located just below the Clos de Bèze, on very hard, rocky soils, Cherbaudes is often one of the more muscular and concentrated wines in the Fourrier line up. Dense and pretty powerful, with dark bramble and black cherry fruit, stylishly expressed 20% new wood, lots of violet perfume, layers of tannin and enough acidity and zip for balance. Ripe but harmonious. (TA)  (10/2019) Jancis Robinson Cherry in colour and aroma. Sweet and pure fruit on the nose, open and scented. Highly aromatic. On the palate, the structure is really fine boned but just right to shape the fruit. Elegant, long, a fresh beauty. I find it hard to suggest drink dates when the wines are so open and inviting already but they will surely age well? 17/20 points (JH)  (1/2020)
