LEVEL 1 - #01 “RICE STITCH" Originating from traditional European embroidery practices, the Rice Stitch has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. It has been brought to America in the 17th century, where it was primarily used in borders and decorative motifs.  Also known as William and Mary Stitch or Crossed Corners Cross Stitch, the Rice Stitch is created by forming small diagonal stitches over the legs of a larger cross stitch. You can add more than one diagonal stitch over each leg, depending on the size of the larger base cross stitch. This creates a grid-like pattern of tiny "X" shapes, giving the stitch its distinctive appearance.  Here, the Rice Stitch adds delicate texture to the Holly and Ivy motif, enhancing the overall intricacy of the design. Design area: 42h x 42w (3.3” x 3.3”)Cut fabric for models: 25ct or 28ct linen  6" X 6" Do you want to stitch Thea's Sampler Designs but find you would love some extra help with basic Specialty Stitch techniques?
