Tall Stoneware Container with Brown and Cream Glazes and Side Divets

A handmade stoneware utensil holder, vase, or an interesting accent piece on a bookshelf used to hold playing cards.  The piece is more or less cylindrical in shape but with two small divets on each side, as though the artists pressed their thumb and middle finger into the sides.  The glaze is also interesting--a wash of off-white flows down from the rim over a mottled brown and tan that looks applied horizontally in bands.  The signed piece measures 4" x 7 1/4" and the condition is very good.  This reminds me of my 1970s childhood home in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta.  I sometimes wish I could go back to that time and place.
