German WWII Postcard of Knight’s Cross Recipient Oberleutnant Werner Mölders-This is a colored sketch of the Spanish Legion flying ace Werner Mölders. The sketch is by artist Wolfgang Willrich, and was part of the “Heroes of the Fatherland” series. Just some of Mölders achievements as that he was a Luftwaffe pilot, wing commander, and the leading German fighter ace in the Spanish Civil War. He became the first pilot in aviation history to shoot down 100 enemy aircraft and was highly decorated for his achievements. Mölders developed fighter tactics that led to the finger-four formation. He died in a plane crash as a passenger in November 1942. The reverse of the postcard is set up in the traditional style with room for a note and the address, with the studio information separating the two halves. This card is in near excellent condition, very clean with bright colors.
