Ireland - Irish Aer Lingus - Connemara

This poster that highlights the natural beauty of the Conamara region of Ireland was created post WWII to encourage air travel to the country. In the 1960's, intercontinental air travel was growing rapidly with the newer airplanes now able to carry passengers over longer distances. Aer Lingus, meaning "air fleet", is the flag carrier airline of Ireland and the second-largest airline in the country after Ryanair. Founded by the Irish government, it was privatized between 2006 and 2015 and it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Iberia. The airline's head office is on the grounds of Dublin Airport in Cloghran, County Dublin. Paul Henry (1876 - 1958) is one of the most well-known Irish artists. Born in Belfast, he studied painting in Paris with Whistler and returned to his homeland to paint its beautiful countryside.
