The Tarot of the Bohemians by Papus | A.E. Waite Publication Year: 1919 London: Rider & Co  This is a beautiful binding variant of The Tarot of the Bohemians featuring numerous black and white engraved vignettes and illustrations throughout the text. It includes two vignettes for each of the tarot trumps, as well as many Kabbalistic, astrological, and other diagrams. The book was authored by Dr. Gerard Encausse (1865-1916), a French occultist and the founder of the Martinist Order. It was first published in French in 1889, with an English translation following in 1892, which was unrelated to Waite. The first edition by Waite was published in 1910, with a reissue in 1914. Subsequently, it was reprinted in 1919 in a slightly larger format—this is that edition. The 1919 and earlier printings are considered the "best" editions of this title, as they include the short "Preface to the French Edition" by Papus, which was omitted from most later printings. Condition: publishers blind stamp
