The Dance of Death by Hans Holbein

The Dance of Death, of the celebrated Hans Holbein Publishing: 1825 William Charlton Wright  52 Wood engravings by Mr. Bewich with Peter-press illustrations  a scarce edition of Holbeins famous work. There is much speculation on whether the engravins present in this edition were actually produced by Thomas Bewick. Even though the title page specifies that the wood cuts are in-fact those of "Mr. Bewick" there seems to be a departure from the medieval conception of Bewicks works.The cuts with several exceptions are imitations of the original Holbein   Very Scarce Edition! Condition: original leather boards, gilt title to spine, the edges of the spine were tended to using japanese paper- professionally done, some browning to the blanks, other wise a nice clean copy in Very Good condition!
