When you're dealing with an appliance with a water tank, top-fill is the only way to go. I like that I can bring this humidifier right up to the kitchen sink and pull the faucet hose out into the tank (same way I refill my coffee machine). It's pretty easy to clean too. It also has a neat pop-out drawer to add your own essential oil scents.
