Spoken Latin for Beginners: Reading "Julia"
Thurs., 7pm (U.S. Eastern Time) *Please note that this course will run only if two or more students enroll. Course Description: In this course we'll spend each week learning basic spoken Latin skills, and getting some comprehensible input as we work through Julia, a graded reader published by Maud Reed in 1941 with the goal of making Latin "...a gateway to a magic country..." and with an aim "before everything else...to please." and selections of other "easier" Latin authors, ancient and modern if time permits. Note that this is a less "intensive" course than the version of the class taught over the summer and students are expected to join this course with substantial Latin passive or grammatical knowledge before the course begins, and is not suitable for students learning Latin from scratch. DETAILS Level: This course assumes previous knowledge of Latin through a traditional course, but no experience using Latin as a spoken language. Textbook: Instructor will provide all materials. S
