This example is an authentic and original design - not a knock-off.  Notes from the Archive: Charles and Ray Eames arranged for their offices at Vitra in Weil am Rhein, Germany to be right in the middle of the manufacturing floor, so they could be inspired by the production work surrounding them. The pedestal base is often referred to as the "Eiffel Tower" base due to its resemblance to the cast iron Paris landmark.
