Open and Closed Selkie Heart Necklaces

Each Selkie piece has its own head of gold, so I wanted to make gold hearts for you to show your true nature as a Selkie in the flesh.   In this collection, I wanted to bring to life a lesser known legend that I hold dear to my heart. The selkie. Each of these pieces was hand crafted with their stories and songs in mind.   Selkies are mythical creatures in Celtic folklore, particularly in Scottish and Irish traditions, that have the ability to shapeshift between seals and humans. They are known for their human form, which is often described as beautiful and attractive. The ability to shapeshift is typically tied to shedding and regaining their seal skin.    They are creatures of both the sea and the land, able to move between both worlds. Selkie lore is rich with stories and legends, often involving themes of love, loss, and the allure of the sea.   A common story involves a man finding a Selkie on the shore and taking her seal skin, making her his wife and thus trapping her on land.
