AP Calculus AB (Part 1) | Grade 9+
What You Will Learn Students will master the following components of AP Calculus AB (Part 1): Limits and Continuity, Differentiation, Basic Derivatives, Rate of Change, Implicit Differentiation. Part 2 of this course will start in Fall 2021. Keywords: AP Calculus AB, Math Design For Grade 9+ Math courses are level-based, not grade-based. For example, a very smart student can take any course as long as the prerequisites are met! *Prerequisite: Passed Pre-Calculus with a grade of C- or better Course Overview 4 - 8 students 2 hours per class Eastern Time Friday, Saturday 3:45 - 5:45 p.m. ET Pacific Time Friday, Saturday 12:15 - 2:15 p.m. PT 18 classes / meet twice a week 6/25/2021- 8/21/2021 6/25, 6/26, 7/2, 7/3, 7/9, 7/10, 7/16, 7/17,7/23, 7/24, 7/30, 7/31, 8/6, 8/7, 8/13, 8/14, 8/20, 8/21 Course Schedule Note: The instructor will adjust the speed and amount of content covered depending on the needs of the students. The goal is to make sure that students are proficient in all areas covered – quality over quantity. Day 1. Concept of instantaneous rate of change Day 2. Students must have the week’s material printed out before the start of class. Instructor Ruth L. Mathemagician I’m not your ordinary middle school or high school math teacher. I’m a “mathemagician.” I can transform your students from hating math to loving it.I surprise my students, using my juggling, sewing, and knitting skills to explain challenging math concepts, such as graphing, proportions, and patterns. Math is not hard when you apply it to real-world situations. As a high school math teacher for 25 years, I’ve taught all levels from algebra to AP calculus. I’m a “master teacher,” who trains college student teacher interns. I speak five dialects, read and write Chinese, and have a passion for global travel. For 13 consecutive years, I’ve led a highly successful global travel program, taking students to China, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, and Switzerland. I created a mentorship program for retired professionals to tutor and mentor at-risk students, consistently bringing grades from D’s and F’s to A’s and B’s. My students often come from at-risk, low-income families yet have gone on to study at Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Georgetown University to name a few. More Ms.Ruth's Courses
