Cherry Barbs (Puntius titteya)
Cherry Barbs General Background Cherry Barbs are tropical freshwater fish native to Sri Lanka. They sport fiery orange and red scales that brighten up even the darkest aquariums. While spawning, the male’s scales become even brighter, increasing their already high visual appeal. Although female Cherry Barbs are generally less colorful than males, they still display a beautiful set of red, orange, white, and black scales that’s incredibly appealing to the eye. Cherry Barbs are more slender than traditional bards and reach around two inches when fully grown. Cherry Barbs are peaceful creatures that make fantastic tankmates for other non-aggressive species like Neon Tetras and Molly Fish. They are very timid and easy to take care of, making them the perfect fish for newcomers and veterans alike. The Cherry Barbs’ natural habitat consists of tropical water temperatures reaching 74 to 79 degrees. Many owners add various rocks and driftwoods to replicate their habit even further. However
