Scarcity alone, it must be emphasized, doesn't determine the value of a tournament book. In addition to being a scarce tournament title, Temesvar 1912 features a coterie of Hungarian masters destined to play an important role in the early 29th Century European chess history. The names of Richard Reti and Julius Breyer (mercurial, surprise tournament winner), together with such recognized masters as Lajos Asztalos, Zsigmond Barasz, Zoltan von Balla, Kornel Havasi and Károly Sterk, clearly qualify Temesvar as a significant event.
