Aptly named, this is the world’s largest living species of gecko! How so, you might ask? It has been theorized and considered that the Leachianus gecko is an example of island gigantism, which is when animals from the mainland are isolated on an island and evolve over many years to have larger bodies because of plentiful resources.  Preferring to stick to the high canopies throughout the island, this vociferous reptile loves to make homes out of tree hollows and ventures out at night, blending in to their surroundings with their impressive camouflage.
