The design for this Altar Cloth is based off of the imagery of The World Tree Yggdrasil found on the Överhogdal tapestries.  The tapestry was most likely created between 1040 and 1170 CE and was found during the renovation of the vestry of the Överhogdal Church in Härjedalen, Sweden in 1909. Yggdrasil is the conduit of the cosmos, linking the nine realms of existence together as one. Atop this cosmic ash tree sits an eagle, below the malevolent Nidhogg, and somewhere in between the mischievous Ratatosk. But perhaps the most well-known part of Yggdrasil is the Well of Urd, where Odin himself hung for nine days and nights and sacrifice himself to himself to gain the knowledge of the Norns that dwelt there. The knowledge gained was that of the runes.  This Altar Cloth serves as a perfect center piece for your altar and to cast your daily runes upon and focus on their meaning.  Available as both linen and rabbit pelt altar cloths.
