The reason for the cost difference is the beams weight, construction method and cost to ship. This beam weighs 180 lbs vs 42lbs for our 8ft beams. Because we have a longer span between the beam legs the beam must be much stronger and a different construction method and additional materials are used. The weight capacity also increases to 350 lbs. Because of the length of the beam it must be shipped with a freight carrier as opposed to FedEx or UPS and this substantially increases the cost to ship.
