Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize small quantities without consciously counting them (for example, how you immediately know that you rolled a 3 on a die). How to use counting clip cards: Print and laminate the pages, then cut out the cards. I recommend a sturdy paper like cardstock for repeated use. I personally use something called presentation paper - a heavyweight paper with a special coating for bright, beautiful images. Have your child mark the correct number with a clothespin.
