
Day on the Lake
In “Day on the Lake,” I sought to capture Dragonite, that kind-hearted dragon Pokémon, during a moment of quiet reflection in a tranquil lake. While Dragonite has the astounding ability to circle the globe in just sixteen hours, I was inspired to depict it seeking solitude and rest. On that perfect August afternoon, the gentle ripples of the lake and Dragonite’s calm demeanor were in harmony, reflecting its surprising tenderness despite its formidable presence.The canvas is bathed in the soft hues of a setting sun, gold and teal merging and reflecting upon the water. It was important for me to let the environment mirror Dragonite’s nature—both powerful and kind. As I painted, I focused on Dragonite’s big blue eyes, capturing the way they seemed to take in every bit of the day’s fading light, hinting at its unique abilities.For me, this piece isn’t just about the beauty of nature and Pokémon; it’s about understanding and showcasing the depth of emotion and layers that even creatures as
