A Throne Above Chaos
"A Throne Above Chaos" is born from my contemplation of the delicate balance between power and its impact on the world below. In this piece, my intention was to capture a single, reflective moment—a silent interlude in the constant motion of urban life. The choice of colors was key in conveying the mood of this scene. I selected a palette that brings out the contrast between the fiery vibrancy of the city and the cooler, more composed figure that observes it. The cream hue of the character's coat is intended to draw the eye, symbolizing a beacon amidst the surrounding tumult.I focused on the interplay of light and shadow to underscore the complexity of the subject. The way the city's light catches on the figure is meant to reflect the idea that the Kingpin is both apart from yet connected to the urban pulse below. This illumination is central to understanding the figure's place in the city—separate from, yet still a part of, the chaos. The technique I employed—vivid and somewhat impetuous in the depiction of the city, against the more deliberate strokes used to portray the figure—was chosen to underline the theme of contrast. My strokes are an effort to express the underlying energy of the scene, each one contributing to the narrative of the artwork.
