The keen eye will observe several notable cities and locales, including Constantinople, Belgrade, Budapest , Venice and Heidelberg. The 17th century saw the Danckerts family flourish in Amsterdam as map sellers and publishers. Theodorus Danckerts, born in 1663, was the grandson of the company's founder, Cornelius Danckerts. Together with his father Justus, Theodorus produced several atlases between 1680 and 1700. These atlases, initially created with their own engraved plates, were eventually sold to R. & J.
