Nicolas de Fer was a French cartographer and publisher who lived in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born in 1646 in the city of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in the eastern part of France and was the son of a prominent map engraver, Antoine de Fer. From an early age, Nicolas showed a keen interest in maps and geography, and he soon became an expert in these fields. Throughout his career, Nicolas de Fer produced a vast number of maps and atlases, many of which were highly regarded for their accuracy and beauty.
