Produced by British cartographer John Gibson for the London publication Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Chronicle, the map includes labels of the islands' topographic features and a compass rose. Longitude is marked in degrees west from the Ferro Meridian (meridian running through El Hierro, westernmost of Spain's Canary Islands) and scale is in English Statute Miles.
