Moonrise from Glacier Point
Story Behind the Image On the second day of my October Yosemite workshop for The Ansel Adams Gallery, our group carpooled up to Glacier Point for a beautiful lightly cloudy photo adventure. After a couple of great stops at Gates of the Valley, Inspiration Point and Washburn Point, we arrived at Glacier Point and were thrilled to see the nearly-full moon showing itself off over the mountains to the east: Mt. Clark and Mt. Starr King. When I am teaching, I don’t take any bulky equipment of my own along, and when I do have a camera with me, it is something I can work with quickly so as to not take time away from the gang. This afternoon, the gibbous moon had risen into the deeper blue part of the sky, showing itself off above the mountains and clouds. Click. Canon 5D Mark II.
