Behind the Image Glacier Point is only accessible for part of the year, once the snow has been cleared and the road repaired. When it finally opens, summer visitors flock to this overlook. Most come for this exact view: Half Dome rising above the backcountry like a sentinel. This evening offered no rare conditions. Just soft summer clouds and even light. But that’s often when Yosemite reveals the most. The story here is in the structure — the alignment of pines, the granite foreground, the ridge-line beyond, and the side light skimming Half Dome’s face without overpowering it. I built the composition deliberately, using what was already there. No tricks. Just observation. Sometimes, that’s all a photograph needs.
