
Ansel Adams and Imogen Cunningham
Story Behind the Image Ansel's good friend and fellow photographer, Imogen Cunningham, had visited Ansel on assignment for People magazine in 1975. She kept insisting that while she would photograph Ansel, he should also photograph her. Ansel was busy that day, and kept trying to graciously decline his "assignment" from Imo. Finally, after endless needling, he said "Alan, go get the Hasselblad." I made this image of him as he resigns himself to taking photos of Imogen. His photographs of her were much better than hers of him, at least in my opinion.
