Hendry 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker Notes Hendry’s Cabernet Sauvignon plots are at an elevation range between 150 and 300 feet above sea level on thin, stony soils similar to the Left Bank of Bordeaux, where some of the world’s most famous Cabernet blends were born (Opus One, Mondavi Reserve...). This incredible wine comes from a fabulous vintage and a glorious location from one of Napa’s foundational wineries with decades of experience. Opaque, deep ruby color. Immediate berry fruit on the nose, backed with spice, dried herbs and leather. Full-bodied, with pleasing deep berry roundness and depth in the mid-palate. Fine-grained tannins with a bittersweet chocolate edge and dark, stewed fruit on the finish. New aromas of violets, licorice and more continue to emerge with air, making this a good candidate for further bottle development. Like its immediate predecessors, this wine seems very approachable upon release. Try with slow-roasted lamb shanks, braised short ribs, Wagyu sliders (fancy!), salumi and charcute
