Donacidae Shell Halves (Pack of 50 specimens)

The family Donacidae contains 5 genera and over a dozen species. These bivalves are an important component of coastal food chains. While not typcally found in a Mangrove estuary habitat, their diminutive shells are representative of many of the types of small bivalve mollusks that do reside there. We love these because they are small, simple, and when scattered about the aquarium substrate, help provide that extra touch of authenticity in the brackish water aquarium! Our Donacidae shells range in size from 1/2"- 1" (1.27cm-2.54cm) and will vary in size and coloration. These shells are cleaned in water and ready to go with a minimum of additional preparation. As with any shells we use in our tanks, it's always a good idea to give them a quick rinse in freshwater before adding them to the aquarium.
