Andrew Geoffrey Cabernet Sauvignon

Situated on the highest slopes of Diamond Mountain, Andrew Geoffrey's wines have a cult following. What is truly unique here is that this is a "library release" from the winery; translated, the winery holds back vintages, stores the wines in temperature-controlled surroundings, and releases them when they think the wines are in prime drinking form. This, my friends, is in prime drinking form!You would never guess this wine was 17 years old based on appearance. It's deep, dark, and nearly opaque in color. The nose shows lovely development -- cassis, dark chocolate, spiced plum, and more. But the biggest bonus here is that those monstrous Diamond Mountain tannins have softened and rounded to reveal a wine that drinks like a dream. Highly recommended!
