Held securely by four prongs, so as to allow as much light into the gem from all angles, the oval gem will glow with different hues shifting with each angle. The triangular facets cut into the Opal enhance the gemstones brilliant color-play, a reflection like lightening in a rainbow. Opal, derived from the Sanskrit upala, meaning “precious stone,” and later the Greek derivative “Opallios,” meaning “to see a change of color", is a birthstone for those born in the month of October.
