In this weeklong workshop, artist Hattie Preston will guide students through the process of designing and building their very own (almost life-sized!) puppet. Using plaster strips and other sculptural materials, each student will choose their puppet style—stick, hand, or marionette—and bring it to life from the inside out. They’ll start by dreaming up a character, which will serve as the creative heart of their design. From there, the building begins—shaping, layering, and painting a puppet full of personality.
