
Handles and Pitchers 4 Week Lessons (Tier 2)
* Prerequisite: Cylinder Bootcamp In Handles and Pitchers, you’ll explore multiple handle styles and learn how to create both pulled and hand-built spouts. By the end of the course, you’ll have: At least 2 pitchers with well-crafted spouts A multi-handled pot 6 different handle styles This class will push your creativity. To create high-quality pitchers, spouts and handles need to align both in design and function. You’ll focus on handle placement for ease of pouring and minimizing drips. A sketchbook is required, so you can plan and experiment with designs before committing to the full pot. Week 1: Learn 5 variations of basic handles, both pulled and hand-built. Begin attaching handles to your Handle Example Pot. Week 2: Explore basic spouts. You’ll need a leather-hard cylinder and a fresh cylinder with a thicker rim. Learn how to pull a spout from the fresh clay and add a hand-built spout to the leather-hard. Week 3: Study handles for different pots, including crocks
