Cosmetic Usages - Decoct the bark for use in poultices, salves, creams and other topical formulations.   Pau d'arco, is a broadleaf evergreen tree native to the Amazonian rain forest. For thousands of years, South American natives have used the inner bark of the tree to produce Lapacho tea (also called Taheebo), a traditional beverage favored by the Incas. The bark contains naphthoquinones, a class of compounds in the vitamin K group that are also found in green, leafy vegetables. The bark also contains a number of antioxidants, including quercetin.
