Edition: Open   ABOUT THIS SERIES - AOTEAROA The Māori people call their homeland Aotearoa (au·teh·uh·ROW·uh), or Land of the Long White Cloud, because of the cloud formations that helped early Polynesian navigators find it. But New Zealand’s spectacular clouds are in part due to what happens on the ground, where Earth’s primordial processes smolder beneath steaming rocks and breathe life into lush forests. Aotearoa is Rachael Thompson's photographic exploration of the country's north island.
