Summer Pottery Intensive (8 Weeks) with Jorge Jimenez
This intensive 8-week course is designed to strengthen participants' skills in wheel throwing, handbuilding, and glazing through guided projects. Taught by ceramic artist Jorge Jimenez Jr., the first half of the course (Weeks 1–3) will focus on wheel throwing, culminating in a glaze application lesson. The second half (Weeks 4–8) will shift to handbuilding, exploring different forms and another glaze technique. The class will meet for two hours each week for a total of eight sessions, with open studio time every day for you to practice on your own. Students will have access to studio time outside of class meetings, along with two structured critique sessions to discuss completed works. Participants will develop a strong understanding of ceramic terminology, glaze chemistry, and the etiquette of constructive critique. The course will utilize Cone 10 firing for wheel-thrown pieces and Cone 5 for handbuilt projects. See the class schedule below. Location
