Description Mars wasn't content with having one of the largest volcanoes in the Solar System, so it also has the largest canyon. Valles Marineris—also referred to as Mariner Valley—is east of the Tharsis Region and runs along the equator. It is 5 times deeper, 10 times longer, and 20 times wider than Earth's Grand Canyon. This is another one of my favorite views of Mars from the Hope mission.
