I formed them by hand and pressed leaves from my garden into the still-wet clay, fired them, rubbed underglaze into the recesses, glazed with a transparent green glaze, and fired again to 2223 F. The glaze is food-safe, and even un-glazed portions are non-porous. I sand the bottoms so they are smooth.
