The ride covers approximately 100 miles through the scenic Texas Hill Country, with riders camping along the way. The Texas Hill Country Trail Ride was started by a group of dedicated horse enthusiasts who wanted to preserve the traditions of the Old West and provide an opportunity for people to experience the beauty of the Texas countryside from horseback. The first ride attracted around 75 riders, and it has since grown to attract over a thousand riders each year.
