Oak Barn Beam Bench, 30", Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table D

A handsome reclaimed wood bench made of White Oak. These heavy Old growth hand cut beams were reclaimed from the old Wisconsin log cabin pictured here. The trees were cut by hand and the beams shaped with great effort by farmers/builders more than one hundred years ago. Each log was hewed to about 5 inches thick and then the top and bottom edges were sculpted to fit into each other.  This method of construction required an unusual amount of skill and resulted in far fewer drafty cracks to fill with chinking than the standard log cabin. Cabins like this will never be built again.
