1842 ASA BULLARD. Sabbath School Visiter, by Emily Dickinson's Uncle. Hawaii, Revival, &c.
Excellent reading in this full year of Asa Bullard's periodical for the poor and young issued to be distributed for the benefit of the young during the Westward Expansion era. Born in 1804, Bullard served as the editor and secretary of the Massachusetts Sabbath School Society from 1834 until 1875. Aside from the American Tract Society, Bullard's editorial choices probably did more to influence America's young than just about any other figure of the time. Bullard has taken on significant interest over the years for his relationship and correspondence with his niece, Emily Dickinson. Contents include: A Boy Driven Away in His Wickedness by Edmund Wright - Sunday School Union Agent in Missouri; A Letter from the Children of the Sandwich Islands to the Sabbath School in Franklin, New Hampshire; Revival of Religion in Sabbath Schools; The Shepard Sabbath School Society of Cambridge; Revivals among the Young; A Dialogue about Shepherds; Catholic Teachers at the Sandwich Islands - A Letter
