1655 RICHARD CAPEL. Westminster Assembly Puritan on Temptation. 600+ Pages on Battling Sin!

A very unusual work on the market, especially the 1655 edition which adds a further fourth part comprising nearly 300 additional pages, by early Puritan, Richard Capel [1586-1656]. A member of the Westminster Assembly, he was a deeply experiential divine called by Richard Sibbes, "faithful, scholarly, and a dear friend" to the godly.  The present work on temptation pre-dates John Owen's classic treatise. Contents include: The Constant Assault, The Enticement of Lust, Of Satan's Temptations, Of Temptations which Come from Ourselves, Of Mixed Temptations in which Satan Joins with Us and We with Him, Rules for Remedies in Temptation, Resistance to Enticing, Help from the Brethren, Watching and Praying, etc., etc.  Capel, Richard.
