A wonderful assemblage of three separately published works by prominent puritan and one of the divines of the Westminster Assembly, Edward Reynolds [1599-1676]. Siding with the Presbyterians in the Civil War of 1643, he also took the Covenant in 1644, preached for Cromwell, and was solidly in the puritan camp. However, he was also a peace maker; never looking to establish a Presbyterian State, as some were, he was open to reconciling with the broader church with more liberty of conscience. In 1660, he did just that and was therefore not ejected in 1662.  Reynolds remains one of the sturdiest of the puritan exegetes. Spurgeon said that his works were ". . . surpassingly clear and elaborate. He was a man of vast learning and a thoroughly evangelical spirit." Reynolds, Edward. Meditations on the Holy Sacrament of the Lord's Last Supper. Second edition Corrected and revised by the Author. London. Printed for Robert Bostock and George Badger and are to be sold at the Kings-Head in Pauls-Chu
