Ocimum basilicum Slender, two inch long leaves have a spicy anise-clove flavor. With attractive purple stems and blooms, this herb is essential in Thai and Vietnamese cooking. Grows 18 to 24 inches tall. Direct seed or transplant into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Basil will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination.
